Murakami was born in Tokyo on February 01, 1962. To step into animation industry being an admirer of anime and manga, he joined Tokyo University of the Arts learn drafting skills but end majoring in Nihonga the traditional Japanese painting style.
The artist emerged as Asian counterpart of the US pop artist using the same combination of commercial and fine art in colourful imageries.Due to mass production Japanese animation style and comic graphic stories, disillusioned with Nihonga and inclined to Otaku Culture, which is Japanese term specifying people obsessive interest absorbed by anime and manga. Much of artist’s earlier works were done in the essence of satire and social criticism he achieved great recognition for Otaku designs producing larger than life fibreglass figurines exhibiting fetishism of the cosplay culture. Murakami artistic style and murals rendered characteristics of high glossy surfaces and life-size sculptures of anime statuettes.
