Most of the Estonians aren't religious and are more atheistic. It is even said that Estonia is one of the "least religious" countires in the world with only 14% of the population declaring religion to be an important part of their life. Most known religion in Estonia is Christianity.

If you are a religious person, don't count us sinned yet. There are churches in every county and city here so those who choose (or are born in) to believe in something, they can still do it freely.

What do I think of God?

When I was younger I watched a lot of Spanish soap operas where they were praying to God and I was trying to do that too. Whenever I wanted something really bad, I put my hands together, closed my eyes and prayed to the "higher power." Nothing never happened the way I wanted and I know that religion doesn't work that way, but I can say it felt good to think that there is someone who we can turn to when in need of help.

I think religion gives a lot of people a lot of spiritual support for life, so I'm not against anyone who wants to believe, as long as they don't pursue me doing the same.

What do I believe in?

I don't believe in God or Jesus as Christianity paints them. I don't believe that there is someone up there looking over us. That seems surreal to me. But I think that everyone needs or has to believe in something. Along the way I have collected some things from different religions, mostly Buddhism, that I like to believe in. Buddhism is in my opinion also one of the most interesting religion which covers stuff that are actually logical for me to believe in. I don't know why.

For example I believe in dukkha, karma, samsara, nirvana and rebirth which are all part of the Four Noble Truths in Buddhism. I'm not going to talk here about what they mean or represent, because that would be hard for me to do in English, because of the really specific terms and I don't want to say anything wrong.

To sum it up, I would say that I believe that we live many lives. When we die, our spirits wander until they choose a new body to live in. We have to pay up for the bad things we did in our last life. I believe that everything we do to others reflects on us. If you do something good you get it back 3x times better and if you do bad you get it back worse.

It's definitely one of the reasons why I would really like to travel to countries where Buddhism, Hindusism or Taoism are popular. Their culture and beliefs are just so interesting!
