Much of what you've learned about Adolf Hitler isn't true.
For many years we've been deceived into believing a distorted and often completely fabricated version of reality.
This is true for much of human history and especially the case when it comes to information regarding Adolf Hitler.
Gun Registration
Starting with the fake quote.
This year will go down in history. For the first time a civilized nation has full gun registration! Our streets will be safer, our police more efficient, and the world will follow our lead into the future!
— Adolf Hitler, 1935
This quote has been touted 100 times, in various forms, in different print sources. Its message is not subtle: gun registration leads to gun confiscation which leads to Auschwitz.
And in case you weren't clear about the connection between Nazis and contemporary gun control advocates, the last sentence spells it out: people in “the future” (the present) who advocate registration are literally “following Hitler’s lead.” Although absolutely untrue.
Two problems: one, there’s not a shred of historical evidence that Hitler ever said this, and two, it wouldn't have made any sense even if he had.
First, there is no source for this quote that checks out had anybody ever sited one. But when a source is given it is generally sourced to an address from Hitler to the Reichstag: Adolph Hitler, ‘Abschied vom Hessenland!’ [‘Farewell to Hessia!’], [‘Berlin Daily’ (loose English translation)], Apr. 15, 1935, page 3, Einleitung Von Eberhard Beckmann [Introduction by Eberhard Beckmann].
Bernard Harcout, political science chair at the University of Chicago, writes,This infamous quote is probably a fraud and was likely never uttered. The citation reference is a jumbled and incomprehensible mess that has never been properly identified or authenticated, and no one has been able to produce a document corresponding to the quote. It has been the subject of much research, all of it fruitless, and has now entered the annals of urban legend.
That alone should be enough to bury this quote, but, as the promoters of things for which there is absolutely no evidence continuously remind us, “absence of evidence is not evidence of absence.”.
Typical mental gymnastics of the liberal mindset is to call upon anything and everything to justify their lies.
First, there was no Nazi gun registration measure enacted in 1935: major reforms were passed in 1919, 1920, 1928, 1931, and 1938.
Second, Hitler wouldn't even have needed such a measure because of strict licensing laws that had already been passed under the Wiemar Republic ironically, designed to disarm the Nazis and prevent an armed coup d’état such as Hitler’s 1923 “Beer Hall Putsch.”
In fact, private gun ownership was almost completely banned by the Weimar regime following the end of World War I and the signing of the Treaty of Versailles. In January 1919 and August 1920, measures were passed requiring citizens to surrender all firearms to the government, in compliance with rules imposed by the Allies in Versailles.
The 1938 law, which did take place under the Nazi government, restricted Jews from owning guns without a license (due to communist subversives in their midst), but simultaneously removed gun restrictions for everyone else.
The law totally deregulated the sale of rifles, shotguns, and ammunition, as well as expanded the number of people exempt from permit requirements. It also lowered the age requirement for purchase and carry permits from 20 to 18, and extended the period permits (where applicable) were valid from 1 to 3 years.
Additionally Hitler had mandated to disarm all German police including "billy clubs" as it was deemed to be demoralizing and demeaning, to the people, for police to be armed.
So you see, it doesn't matter what false claims are made, there is not only a lack of evidence but the evidence is contrary the evidence that does exist.
I have included several additional quotes at the bottom but here is the most relevant to his views on the people's right to be well armed and skilled in such.
"Unscrupulous agitators have been at work spreading atrocity stories which can only be compared with those lies that were fabricated by the same instigators at the beginning of the Great War."

Here are some factual quotes that support the above post on gun rights.
"If freedom is short of weapons, we must compensate with willpower."
1925 speech in Landsberg, 5 November 1925
“As Fuehrer of the German people and Chancellor of the Reich, I can thank God at this moment that he has so wonderfully blessed us in our hard struggle for what is our right, and beg Him that we and all other nations may find the right way, so that not only the German people but all Europe may once more be granted the blessing of peace.”
1939 speech before the Reichstag, 6 October 1939.
This one is Hitler speaking AGAINST eugenics!
“It would have been more to the point, more honest and more Christian, in past decades not to support those who intentionally destroyed healthy life than to rebel against those who have no other wish than to avoid disease. Moreover, a policy of laissez faire in this sphere is not only cruelty to the individual guiltless victims but also to the nation as a whole... If the Churches were to declare themselves ready to take over the treatment and care of those suffering from hereditary diseases, we should be quite ready to refrain from sterilizing them.”
1934 speech, 30 January 1934.
“For over five years this man has been chasing around Europe like a madman in search of something he could set on fire. Unfortunately he again and again finds hirelings who open the gates of their country to this international incendiary.”
1941 speaking about Winston Churchill at the Reichstag, 4 May 1941
And as for any accusation of supremacist or racist distinction of Hitler's Germany, let it be well known that Germany assembled the most diverse Axis since the Roman empire and without any intentions of imperialism.
Germany fought along side other nations and no intention to deprive them of their liberty but rather to help them obtain it.
The photo below is of Subhas Chandra Bose president elect of the Indian National Congress who had escaped British guards in India to walk most of his journey to Germany to ask Hitler for help.
Hitler gave all British/Indian troops to Bose with question or delay, provided training and weapons so that India could fight for her freedom.
Bose also fell in love with and married a German lady!
Hitler was neither racist nor a supremacist and had never said so!
The next picture is of Rommel looking incredibly proud of the Indian soldiers.
