Who dare say the Sun is false? He and no other warns us when dark uprising threaten, when treachery and hidden wars are gathering strength. He and no other was moved to pity Rome on the day that Caesar died, when he veiled his radiance in gloom and darkness, and a godless age feared everlasting night. Yet in this hour Earth also and the plains of Ocean, ill-boding dogs and birds that spell mischief, sent signs which heralded disaster.
Virgil
Georgics, 29 B.C.
Although President Donald J. Trump is not a dictator, but the legitimately elected President of the United States, still, there is cabal of betrayers close to him in the White House. Like Julius Caesar, President Trump has his own Gaius Cassius Longinus, Decimus Junius Brutus Albinus, and Marcus Junius Brutus, lurking not in the shadows, but in the open --- Cloaked in plain sight. Wise and experienced pundits have (I suspect) already decided in their own minds, the identity of the betrayers.
President Trump has not declared himself ‘Dictator Perpetuo’, nor has he attempted to overthrow any part of the United States government, but instead, has delivered prosperity to Americans, unseen in decades, especially Black Americans. Employment is at a record high and racial tension is low, no matter what some in the media want Americans to believe --- and the world.
A coup d etat or golpe de estado is taking place before our eyes. And will this lead to a ‘Liberator’s civil war’? Splitting the armed forces into separate and opposing camps, from which the country may never recover. What’s becoming apparent, the midterm elections is the new ‘Ides of March’ --- To settle debts.
The midterm elections in November will create a dramatic spectacle. The entire world will be watching the events unfold on their televisions and on their computer screens. President Trump’s enemies must win the midterms and, if they don’t, their political lives are over. But before then, the President’s enemies are (figuratively) sharpening their daggers and, like Virgil’s poem, it could very well herald disaster.
