Shop Notes 11/4 - Wood storage rack build, part 1

While cleaning up the shop I noticed a lot of scrap wood eating up space in a couple corners, so to finish off this clean-wave I figured I'd try making a rack to help store them (and scrap the rest).

Woodworking is still fairly new for me so it's always good to practice on simple projects like this that are hard to mess up.

Found the plans here https://edscustomwoodcrafts.com/

I tried to use the table saw to break down the full sheet of plywood, but controlling a 3/4" sheet of plywood in such a setup is apparently almost impossible.

Had to rearrange part of the shop to lay everything out, and the cuts came out off-size and probably a bit off square.  Hoping I can clean those up and the result will just be slightly smaller shelves..

After two derps with the tablesaw I just laid the sheets down and did the rest of the big cuts by hand.

Edges were a little dirtier but they're much more accurate overall, it just took longer.   Probably good for the arms.

I really like these Japanese pull-saws as it's much easier to stay on the line with them.  Normal saws are very easy to get off-course on bigger cuts like this.

Few more cuts down, but ran out of time today.  Should be able to finish it up tomorrow.

Hope you enjoyed🤠
