Late 13.C Beaumaris Castle, on the ISLE OF ANGLESEY in north-west WALES, built by King Edward I, known as "Longshanks". Intended to be the crowning glory of his Welsh castles, it has been called βthe greatest castle never builtβ due to its incomplete status. In spite of this, its sheer size and beautifully symmetrical design remain awe-inspiring.
Lack of funding & trouble in Scotland diverted attention away from Beaumaris, sealing its fate as an unfinished masterpiece.
