I just had an epiphany.
I was watching Metatron complaining about the leather wristbands everyone seemed to be wearing in the new Odyssey movie.
I think I know where those things come from.
They have seen a depiction of an archer and not realised what the wristguard was.
I have a leather wrist guard that looks very similar.
In real life you would only wear them on your bow holding arm and only when you are doing actual archery.
It is to stop the bow string scratching your arm.
