Sewing n Embroidery Group

Has anyone else tried combining embroidery outlines with a painted inset? What about applique and embroidery?

My embroidery project is taking much longer then I hoped. I hope I can get it done in time. I'm considering abandoning the elaborate version and do a more sketch like version with just outlining with the verse I want to add. I think it would look nice and allow me to actually finish in time for Christmas. I know we have over a month and a half, but I have so much else I'm doing I don't know if I can find the time to finish the more elaborate project. Anyone else considering scaling down projects?

Hello y'all! Does anyone have a Christmas gift sewing list going? I have a few things: Embroidered wall hanging for my mom. Still working on design ideas. Stuffed turtle for my infant. Possibly pajamas for my other kids, but the older kids are getting a large group gift so I can't afford the PJs unless I find fabric on sale. So we shall see.
