I won’t have too much to say about this one. It’s essentially about a boy who likes BL manga, and a supposedly delinquent upperclassman who has a crush on him. Miyano likes BL and doesn’t seem to realize he’s starring in a BL.
The reason why I won’t say much is because of the way this is put together. The author originally had this up as a series of logs on Pixiv.net. Because of that, it’s a lot like reading a comic made up of newspaper strips. Most of them are four panel pages that are almost entirely unconnected and sometimes seem out of order. A lot of characters look very similar, too, in this style, and so it can just be confusing. The author seems to have added in extras, but I’m not sure they help the story flow at all. So it’s just sort of a collection of “stuff happening” where one page doesn’t always connect to the last and they don’t always even seem to be in any sort of order, so characters might suddenly question things that you thought they already knew.
As far as light, fluffy romance goes, there’s nothing particularly upsetting here. But, if you’re going to go into it, you should understand what you’re getting into. I couldn’t call it a typical manga where it’s one story written all at once with a plot. Consider it more like newspaper comic strips.
I couldn’t really get into it myself. I understand the way the author ended up getting into this, and what I wish they would have done is put together a more comprehensible story and add the little strips as spice (sort of like how they occasionally have two-panel strips about the cultural festival). Maybe later volumes are more like that, but the first volume can be easily confusing and difficult to follow.
Nothing in it upset me, but it didn’t make me want to keep reading. I would just wish the author well on their journey into making manga, and hopefully they’re learning a lot about it as they go.
Next will be “My Next Life as a Villainess: All Routes Lead to Doom! Volume 2” by Satoru Yamaguchi.
