Web3 Nomad: ROCKI.com - Music and Monetization

Back for more ramblings on my explorations of Web 3 from the point of view of a Music Maker / Content Creator.

For this one I want to take into account my personality. I know it sounds weird but I am weird.

I’m very shy and introverted and while I create a lot of content that goes on my social media, I’m also not a big social media consumer. I also believe that while the music and art is expressed through Eclipsing Binary, it is not about me, but instead I’m just a vessel. This makes it very difficult for me to work in the current content creator environment as I refuse to be promoting my "brand" non stop.

In the current NFT climate I see a lot of shilling and have seen artists become salesmen telling everyone to buy their NFTs. I’m more interested in giving them away to supporters. (See related post) So I haven’t really found a place there either.

For several years now however, I’ve been trying to find a way to monetize my work so that I can provide for myself and my family through music and art and not needing to have a 9 to 5 job.
I’ve done the multilevel marketing courses but refuse to implement them as I don’t like what it turns people into. I’m also not interested in fame and would prefer to remain more in the background/unseen and make it about the music. 

A few years back I landed on Crypto and saw the emerging powers that this technology brings for creators. I see an opportunity here to monetize the work without selling my soul for ads and see the possibility of bringing the supporters along for the ride in a way that we can create wealth together. This is what brings me to talk to you about ROCKI.com

ROCKI is a Web3 music platform with a MusicNFT marketplace on the Binance Smart Chain.                                      
But as I mentioned before, I’m not keen on the current NFT use cases, so that is not what excites me about this platform, even though I’ve been lucky enough to sell some NFTs there without shilling.

What really makes me excited here is their Web3 Defi side of things. Particularly Staking and Burning.

STAKING
In ROCKI, any user with a Metamask wallet can Stake their ROCKI tokens on any of the KYCd artists and earn ROCKI just by streaming their music and the artist also earns.
Even I, as an artist, can stake my tokens on other artists and earn staking rewards. The current APY for stakers is 56%.

BURNING
Anyone can Burn (destroy) tokens on any of the KYCd artists and earn a really high APY for doing it, while also giving more value to the token as the total supply gets reduced. Both burner and artist earn here as well. The current APY for burners is 1227%. (You can burn up to a max of 500 ROCKI per cycle)

This is just the beginning too. In the future in ROCKI.com you will be able to sell percentages of your songs royalties. Have Playlist Splits as a way to reward music curators. Or simply reward any listener that streams your music without the need for staking. 

I’m certain that with platforms like ROCKI.com I can monetize remaining more in the background  just the way I want to given my personality and still be able to reward those that believe in me and my ability to create music and content.
