If you are experiencing right shoulder pain, it could be a problem with your gallbladder.

The liver is on the right side of your body. The gallbladder is compromised of ducts coming down from the liver that lead into the gallbladder itself which is a sack like organ. Accumulated bile from the liver is released from the gallbladder into the upper portion of the intestines, called the duodenum, to help digest fats and lubricate the lower gastrointestinal tract.

If the bile ducts become clogged from poor dietary choices or from abnormal liver function then stones will eventually form. The sludge build up in the ducts will impair gallbladder function leading to poor digestion of fats and can result in referral pain to the right shoulder.

Improving the gallbladder function can be simple but there are complications that can arise. It is not advisable to attempt gallbladder flushes as these aggressive techniques will force stones through the ducts which can cause severe injury to the duct. The best approaches for the gallbladder are slow and steady and return the gallbladder to normal function over time. Beets, and beet concentrates, are a good place to start however, seeking professional care is ideal.
