Heat treatment section in the abandoned foundry. The high ceiling with glass panels yellowed by rust produced beautiful warm light. It always looks a little bit like the place is still in use with lights turned on, but these furnaces have been cold for many years. This factory was absolutely worth the trip.
The place is falling apart, somebody tried to repair this crack at some point but was unsuccessful. It looked like the partition walls were not built with durability in mind.
Each of these 3 furnaces was the size of a house, absolutely massive. In the foreground is one of the platforms used for loading metal into the furnaces. And some trash because of course.
The place was illuminated through roof panels yellowed by dust and heat. Even on a clouded day, the light was spectacular. On a sunny evening, the entire room must look like it is made of gold.
Furnaces were supplied by a rail-guided platform. Crane delivered metal for heat treatment to the platform, which could then be loaded into the furnace.
Rails spanned the entire room and the platform was controlled from the cabin in the main foundry hall. Considering the weights we are talking about here, it must have been a slow process.
