Hey, everyone, it's time for Journal entry #4 this entry with be from the P.O.V. of Garrett Breezehome, Painbearer of Illmatar. This continues the adventure of Icewind Dale II. If anyone wants to learn the games what are on my list of to be beaten this year please let me know in the reply section below and I'll list them. Manwhile enjoy.
By Illmatar and Helm's good graces, when I agreed to join my childhood friend, Brannon, and my fiancée Mali on this quest I had no idea of what I was getting into. When we descended into the caves underneath the Goblin Fortress it was like descending into the Nine Hells themselves!
Mali, Brianna, and the Drow, Dar'Kandra, used stealth and the intrigues of the various goblin factions so we could get past the first two clans without causing any trouble. A good thing too. As much as I have faith in the Crying God, blessed be Illmatar's name, I fear our group would've stood no chance against the Goblin clans with so many Worg riders and archers. They got past them and for all the trouble not only did they get the information on how to get past the door to the rest of the cavern but Mali, blessed be her sticky fingers, landed me a nice set of yeti gloves to provide protection from cold attacks. Considering the region of Faerun the party and I are in these Yeti gloves will come in quite handy.
But after that, by all that's holy after that, that's when the party and I learned a terrible truth courtesy of a conversation Terrax had. The army of The Legion of the Chimera has Demons in it, Demons oi all things! Brannon and I have discussed this and there can be no doubt these demons make it evidently clear this Legion of the Chimera is the Legacy of Belhifet that Brannon's father, Helm, Lord of Guardians, warned him about. Much as it grieved us to do so we had to run an errand for the Demonic Barghast Whelp named Tquog involving a Dekanter goblin named Krunter.
On reaching the second level of the cavern it was an open fight to reach Krunter's clan, between the spellcasters of the Orcs, their archers, Goblins Sorcerors, and a cage housing an Otyugh, Fire Beetles, and a Fire beetle queen there were times whee things got very hairy. Fortunately Helm and Illmatar smiled on us and saw us through the battles. We found Krunter and his clan and using the password Yquog gave us got in. Krunter while insulting made it clear he would only turn over Yquog's orders when he got a set of bracers.
The return to the entrance was a dangerous one as we had to go through a nasty orog called, The Taskmaster, and his minions. Dar'Kandra nearly got killed in the effort, that orog could hit! Thankfully we succeeded in defeating them and managed to get some nice loot, some of which was magically enchanted. Retrurning to the first level we got the bracers returned to Krunter, and got Yquog's orders. in the process we learned that Yquog's orders were in a form of abyssal tongue. Thusly reinforcing the belief Brannon and I have that the Legion of the Chimera is Belhifet's Legacy, though how exactly so we don't know...yet!
Once Yquog got his orders we took what we had and left. In the process we discovered the items in question were a magically enchanted axe that we shall sell at the first chance, and a magically enchanted Tower shield that Brannon is going to put to good use. We also discovered two of the items we had gathered from our kills were ward stones for the entrance to the fortress. That saved us quite a bit of pain. Once we got into the outer part of the Fortress we had go around dealing with the guards and defenses of the outer fortress. I genuinely hope and pray to illmatar that Braston is alive. I pray The Crying God will see that Enellia only cries tears of joy when we return Braston alive to her. The outer portion of the forress has been cleared out and Mali and Terrax have more ammunition for their missile weapons.
May the blessings of Helm and Illmatar be with us!
I hope you enjoyed this Journal Entry. Please feel free to let me know in the comments your thoughts. Let me know if you liked it or if I need to improve on something. Thanks for reading and have a nice day.
