Memorable Bosses are few and far between. Being an analyst for several programs, projects, and businesses I have had no less than 120 bosses. Each one held a different personality and an unusual view of how business should work and be done.
My most memorable boss was a team lead in Columbus, Ohio. I was working on fifteen project schedules, and he was the contract lead and a lead analyst. He brought me in order to help with programming and analyst of the schedule budget and time schedule.
He made me feel comfortable and helped me understand the politics of the programs. He also gave me the best advice a boss could give. Smile. I was a grumpy person so smiling a lot provided me with more opportunities than a normal analyst representative.
With a smile on my face, I conquered or at least survived hundreds of audits, reviews, and meetings to be known as a good worker, and insight provider on where the program was going and how the schedule would meet up with the budget. The advice of smiling helped me talk with hundreds of people to ensure that I could get the information in a timely period and provide analysis that worked for the program department reports and helped at times management decisions.
The word smile was probably the best advice I have ever received and would hopefully provide for a worker in this day and age.
