Women with prosthetics were the real heroes of World War 2

Don’t believe me? Just look at the new Battlefield V trailer that launched yesterday (5/23/2018)!

One day and 150000 dislikes later, things are not looking too bright for EA. Why could that be? Maybe because they ditched all historical accuracy, made the game extra PC and promoted it like a damn drug-trip through a historical museum. But let’s slow down a bit.

The trailer starts at around 0:10 and within 7 seconds you know what you are in for. We see a teddy bear, bottles of champagne and what appears to be a giant head of a dog. Ah yes, just like in World War 2! One guy dies and we get right into the action. That’s where we meet the two single biggest heroes at the front in all of World War 2: A woman (with a prosthetic arm, like, how do you even come up with this) and a black man. Never heard of them? The dynamic duo “Hey we are oppressed so let’s make this game all about us”? For me, that’s already where I draw the line, but of course I wanted to keep watching.

The group runs into a house, shooting guns, screaming, blowing stuff up. Remember the dark and depressing atmosphere B1 had? Yeah, that’s gone. The woman actually get’s shot (but fret not, she comes back), some more people get shot, funny one-liners are thrown around (cause who doesn’t remember all the fun people had during WW2?), they jump out of a window, tanks blast through the houses, planes are being shot down, and so on and so on, all while looking like a trailer for the new Mission Impossible (which is probably more accurate to World War 2 than this is). Does it sound like a complete mess? Well, it is.

There are then some more absolutely ridiculous firefights, the “player” ends up on the floor with someone over him, trying to kill him, suddenly the girl returns and kills him violently, smiling as she spits one more one-liner before the gameplay is over and we see the logo. Honestly, I also wanted to spit something but at my screen.

So, some of you are going to think “Well, what’s the problem?” and to that I can only say “Honestly, what isn’t?”. Forget the fact that the black guy is fighting there with them even though blacks were still not treated very well back then. Maybe there were black soldiers, I don’t know and it’s not the main point. However, I DO know that there were absolutely zero women with prosthetics jumping out of buildings going “Hello, old friend!” as they shoot people while slithering backwards through the dirt. This game has nothing to do with history, it’s become pretty evident and EA know that. They have set this game in an alternate history where apparently everyone is in an alcoholic rush all the time so they don’t even notice that they are about to die and have fun and giggles while committing mass murder, just so they can have a female lead. How progressive.

THIS is why people have turned away from COD games lately, this exact bullshit. And with something as bad as this, they’ll turn back to Activision! BO4 will be a success, not because the game is any good, but because this game is a complete disaster. Yes, the effects and the movement possibilities for the player are great, but it looks like a Mission Impossible game, not like a WW2 game. Where's the depression, the sadness, the fear? It's a war not a party! Maybe the game won't be that bad gameplay wise, maybe it will even be revolutionary! But it lacks all atmosphere and makes fun of something as brutal and inhumane as the second World War. And for me, that’s the main problem: Have your women with prosthetics, have your shitty jokes, have your jumping out of buildings and shooting rifles with one hand, have all of that. But please don’t take it into World War 2. You are shitting on all the people that actually fought there.
