The ancestor of domestic duck. Body length 50-65 centimeters, body weight 750-1450 grams. The hen is smaller and lighter than the male. They eat seeds, plant parts, invertebrates, tiny fish and tadpole. A wandering bird. It occurs almost in all wetlands. The nest is made of vegetable materials and lined with down feather. She lays 5 to 16 eggs. The ducklings are about eight weeks old, when they learn to fly.
