So, how to prep in an RV with zero land?

Growing greens is super important...Through trial and error we have found that a few soil pots work, but hydro seems to work best for us.

Basil grows very well!

Our Lettuce grew like crazy...

And the Cherry Tomatoes did very well, even in Feb when it was  down below freezing outdoors. To grow them in a cold RV in the Aerogarden, we set it above a heating vent, and covered it with a silk cloth. Why Silk? Because it keeps the warmth in, yet allows air flow...and silk reflects light gently.

March 23rd they were just around 4 inch

Today, May 6th we have at least 100 tomatoes growing

and flowers everywhere :)

We also have Oregano in a pot on my workbench...with plans for some screen drying racks I can hang about 4 inches below the ceiling...and slip under the day bed we made in my work room when not in use.

Growing well on 5 6 2018

Beets starting to pop up...

We have Cucumbers in a pot, as well as Scallions, Wild Garlic, and Spearmint...but none of them are popping up yet.

Bayberry will be in larger pots outside our door once the seedlings arrive. They will do well in pots if I keep up on trimming the tops and roots. I like to use bayberry leaves in sauces vs store bought bay leaves...and the wax berries are awesome for candles.

Soon there will be a mason jar sprouting shelf with LED strip grow lighting, but until then we just sprout on the counter...

So the goal, is to grow all of our greens, some root veggies, micro greens, and some fruit (tomato, strawberry and blueberry at least), all with us here in our 32' Class C.

So far we have very basic Salad :) and I wish I could make our own cheese too!! maybe someday...

Once we get all the materials together for the two ebb and flow hydro systems we designed, I will put together some posts on how we make them, how we fit them in the RV, and how well they work. One will be a double system, with blueberries and tomatoes in larger tubes, and spinach, lettuce, nettle etc in smaller tubes. They will be stacked, but greens will have a different reservoir, pump and timer than the berries, because they need different nutrients and water/air supply. If it works as planned, it should hold up to 50 plants.
The other will be a smaller system just for strawberries, I think.

We plan on at least 2 more 7 pod Aerogardens, so we can get good tomato rotation going, and we might use one to start seedlings. So far energy wise, we are plugged into the grid, but the energy used to run the Aerogardens and the other LED grow lights has been so tiny that we don't really notice it in kwh. They will easily run on the solar generator we are planning on, and our other alternate power.

Are you growing indoors? Are you aware of the Grand Solar Minimum? How are you preparing?

We would love to know...please tell us in the comments, and feel free to add links to your posts on indoor growing and prep too!! This is a community effort...even long distance. The GSM will reach us all...
