Two patients for one heart, but which one would you save?

In times of scarce health resources, these dilemmas are becoming commonplace. Test your own powers of perception and judgement on this one. 

The two patients for the heart transplant are as follows:

1. Female, 26 years old, history of asthma, very sickly so far in her life, not yet had the chance of a real life because of her heart problems. Lives with parents. A god fearing Christian.

2. Male, 44 years old, recently married, has three children, has had a robust life, a kind of maverick and an atheist, but has always been a heavy smoker and drinker. In fact, smoking has partly led to his heart problems.

A very interesting dilemma because it depends on our value judgements. As the deciding doctor, which one gets your vote, and why?
