East Area Rapist Arrested
For decades the Golden State Killer, also known as the East Area Rapist and the Original Nightstalker, managed to dodge police and left the public in a panic. Changing his M.O. as he saw fit, the mysterious killer and rapist was able to stay one step ahead of the law, but there was one thing he hadn't accounted for; modern DNA technology.
Police now say they have arrested 72-year-old Joseph James DeAngelo in connection to the 12 homicides, roughly 50 rapes, and 120 home invasions attributed to GSK/EAR. So far, police say they have charged DeAngelo with two murders and hope they can connect him to many others attributed to the notorious rapist and serial killer.
