GUN CONTROL
A Measure of Politics
When one speaks of “gun control” they often mean an assault weapons ban, a universal background check or maybe complete gun registration. “Gun Control” as a political measure is almost universally a tactic of the left to impose itself on the right. Sure there are liberal gun owners who advocate gun rights, but let’s be serious. Those are very few. Gun control is a measure used by the left to attack the right and the right’s base at its core. It is not about saving lives and everyone knows it.
Chicago, Baltimore and Washington DC are three of the most violent cities in America and also have about the most restrictive gun control measures possible. Chicago and DC would not even allow its citizens to have concealed weapons until courts demanded it in the last few years. A so called AWB does not reduce crime. Hammers are still used to kill more people in America then so called assault weapons. Universal background checks also don’t work to reduce crime and we know this because states like California impose it and still have plenty of crime just ask Oakland and Los Angeles. Gun registration impacts only legal gun owners and creates a list for future taxation and confiscation. In many states, California for one, it is just routinely ignored.
Since gun control actions or measures are strictly political fodder pushed by the left onto the right the purpose of this blog post is to illustrate how the right can and should begin to fight back. I think it is time the right went nuclear. There are the three steps I’d like to see the US Congress take, the president sign and the courts affirm at the federal level right now:
One: Affirmation of the 2nd Amendment as an Individual Constitutional Right Act The focus of this act is the immediate termination of any state and local restriction on gun ownership. The acknowledgement that the 2nd Amendment is the law of the land and that any regulation there of is and must be federally instituted is necessary to defending the constitution from local intrusion and erosion.
Two: Development of the Federally Issued Concealed Weapons Permit by the BATF Now I know some states don’t offer permits, but where permits are issued they work very well. So few permit holders commit crime it should be encouraged. This legislation prepares a simple online class, simple online test, and robust criminal and mental health background check along with rapid delivery of a CCW good in any state and locality nationwide.
Three: Development of a prohibited persons list. We as a nation stop felons from voting even after their sentences which I know some have issue with, but there is nothing in the constitution prohibiting us from denying people their 2nd Amendment right if they have committed a violent crime or suffer a mental illness. Such people would be prohibited and this law would create a list of these people and it would be a crime to sale a weapon to them. Hence you’d need to be able to check a buyer against this list and you could do that for a very nominal fee via app or online.
In the future the federal government may want to revisit gun regulations at the federal level on topics like straw purchases, but ultimately any crime using a gun should be a federal crime not a local or state one. The federal government may decide and should decide in my opinion to pay states to incarcerate gun regulation offenders. Use a gun, go to prison, and the federal government should pay for it would be a credible impact on gun crimes across the nation.
The above is a measure of extending gun rights on behalf of US Citizens. Like gun control is an attack on the right by the left let this be an attack on the left by the right. A great defense is a superior offense. What else can a proponent of gun rights push?

This is a great step I pray cities and counties follow.
