Arrow shot on our screens in October of 2012. Smallville was off the air for about 18 months then and we were all eager for a new DC show.
After the failed attempt at launching the Aquaman series.. yeah, they tried to do a series about him.. talking to fish I guess. Anyway..
Most of us were disappointed that the series started up its own universe, when it could easily have continued on with the established Smallville characters, but none the less, the series started out pretty darn great. In the first season we see Oliver's growth from a slacker American "teenager" into something else.. into someone else.. into a vigilante.
The superhero aspects were handled well, with Oliver learning his trade and honing his skill and forming the team. But as time went on, so did the annoying flashbacks. Every single season we'd have a whole storyline that happened on the island exactly 5 years ago which introduces the big bad for that season, suggesting that Oliver Queen's life is exactly like a calendar, it repeats every 5 or so years.
Much like it's universe counterparts (The Flash, Supergirl, Legends of Tomorrow), 2016's election brought a smelly fart of social justice and political correctness to the show. As you can clearly see, that season's post election episodes were some of the worst quality ones, causing the viewership to drop significantly, by at least 500000 viewers.
With viewership declining and at present hovering around barely 1 million viewers, is it long before the series and its connected universe gets cancelled? What is in store for Arrow Season 7? As we know, it has been renewed for another season, but at this rate, will it be its last? Is the series going to degrade even further thanks to their constant use of social justice and political correctness?
The future remains uncertain, but we all hope that the liberal Hollywood entertainment industry will repent their wicked ways and get back to the roots of good entertainment, the ENTERTAINMENT part.
