Nothing Triggers A Snowflake On the Right Like Those "March for Our Lives" Kids, Unless It's a Young Environmental Activist. Most Will Be Voters By 2020....

Having grown up in a gun-owning family, I respect those who feel that disarming in the face of our corporately-controlled government and out-of-control police force is a non-starter. That is a discussion that we need to have.

However most deaths of our young are not caused by the government.

Tired of being taught beginning in elementary school to wait like sitting ducks to be shot, to practice huddling together afraid and helpless, these U.S. youngsters are refusing to put up with a preventable situation that adults have been too weak-kneed and divided to address. Sparking mobilization across the nation, poised young people are altering the U.S. political landscape overnight. Polite to a fault they are steel-edge determined. The majority (75%) of the teens are white, yet there is strong minority representation: a nearly accurate reflection of the US political landscape. Though still in high school, many are about to graduate - about to vote.

Most will vote in the 2020 presidential race.

Their collective experience includes not only school shootings, but being caught in the crossfire of gangs and domestic violence, seeing the suicides of depressed people whose use of a gun gave no time for second thoughts or rescue, knowing toddlers who found daddy's loaded gun and killed or died as a result. Online, they've watched cops not only gunning down people because the people were armed but shooting unarmed people in the back.

The oldest of these teens may soon be sent to war, to attack vastly smaller countries, there to kill or be killed not to protect our nation but to put extra bucks in the pockets of global oil companies and weapons manufacturers.   Enough. Already hitting the streets from New York to California and most points in between, most are demanding not wholesale gun confiscation (as some pretend) but tight clamps on irresponsible gun owners and politicians.

They have the powerful backing of their parents, increasing numbers of corporations and violence-torn
cities like Chicago. Triggered to froth, the snowflake response on the Right has been not to calmly discuss but to yell "More guns! More guns! More guns!", to threaten to "execute" those who disagree with them, and to use crude photoshopping (that would not fool a modern fourth grader) to mount smear campaigns on the leading teens.

That's backfiring horribly.

They're reasonably deft with computers too, you know. These teens are not Liberals, are not Washington Establishment Hillary followers, open to corruption and cowed by opposition. They are a compassionate, tough, resilient, and tech savvy breed, out to save the lives of their generation and all coming after them, only steeled by clumsy smear tactics and snarling threats of execution. Adults might consider the fact that the irresponsible among us have no business with a weapon, and identifying those people is a top priority.

Rising.
