I've been using minds.com for a while now and I enjoy the platform with one huge caveat - the newsfeed is just plain dumb, and nothing is being done to fix it.
There are few things that make newsfeed borderline unbrowsable:
Block button does nothing - really, I have yet to discover what it does. Why on earth do blocked channels appear in my newsfeed? There really isn't anything else to say here.
I raised this issue with @mark, the CTO of minds and he told me to turn off "open" filter, which brings me to...
The open filter pretty much does nothing - I have yet to see any difference.
There's no ability to hide posts - seeing the same 10 posts over and over really defeats the purpose of *news*feed. I'm not particularly asking for a smart algorithm just a button to hide posts.
The boost is always the first post and it's very often the same post you've seen at least a dozen times already. The ad model lacks base ad UX. I'm tempted on writing a grease monkey script to get rid of boosts entirely because I see blocked channels being boosted in my newsfeed 20 times a day.
People have been raising this issue over and over and yet Minds has yet provide any improvements. It would be just nice to have a bit of control over our own newsfeed because discoverability isn't that great to say the least.
