Saturn in Capricorn

Tomorrow, Saturn will enter Capricorn where it will transit until 2020.

Saturn takes around 29 years to come full circle and spends about 2.5 years in each of the signs.

Saturn transits help us to take responsibility and become self reliant, but If the planet makes a harsh aspect to a planet or point in our birth charts, we may feel trapped and depressed, but these transits shatter illusions and help us to see the truth.

Saturn is the strict but fair Grandfather of the heavens and his tough love blesses us with wisdom and maturity. Saturn is the Lord of Karma and his influence shows us how our actions have consequences and affect other people. The best way to get through a hard Saturn transit is to treat it as a lesson and understand what the universe is trying to tell you. Saturn is at home in Capricorn and he feels very comfortable there. Saturn in Capricorn is about hard work and rebuilding something stronger and better in the space that Saturn in Saggittarius created.

During this transit, we may become more career focused and ambitious. We might decide to give up a job that we've had for years and replace it with something that suits our personalities and natural skills better. Disillusioned with Universities and the current employment system, we may decide to learn trades from more experienced people and make self employment a goal instead of getting into massive amounts of debt to enter a system that discourages individuality and free thought. We may learn a trade or create a business which we then pass on to our children and grandchildren, securing their futures.

Saturn in Capricorn is serious business and this applies to relationships too. This planet demands truth, authenticity, loyalty and commitment. During Saturn's transits through Libra, Scorpio and Sagittarius, many relationships broke up and some people remained completely single for a long time, or went through several short relationships and both of these situations acted as tough, karmic lessons.

Saturn in Capricorn gives us an opportunity to make use of the wisdom that we gained from failed past relationships, and to put in the hard work and effort needed to keep current relationships together. Many people may return to more traditional values and seek long term commitment rather than unfulfilling flings based on physical attraction only.

Saturn in Capricorn teaches us the value of our older family members and friends who are the elders of our tribes. We might start to see through the shallowness of youth obsessed Hollywood and fake celebrity culture, and seek Spiritual Guides and mentors who we admire for their stellar wisdom and life experience. There is a phrase - "Youth is wasted on the young." Turn off your TV and go and talk to your GrandMother about your problems. Saturn in Capricorn reminds us that sometimes the old way of doing things is better.

Over-all, this transit is about purpose, structure, responsibility and living authentically. It's about making responsible choices and working towards solid goals and projects that withstand the tests of time. Now, we're getting serious and putting in the hard work so we can be rewarded with success. Slow and steady.
