Short Blog About My Linux Journey

I started off using Slackware around the year 2000 and in the years since have jumped from one distribution to another but always eventually found myself going back to Slackware (maybe I have a soft spot for the Benevolent Dictator Patrick Volkerding.) But a few years ago I ended up dropping it because I finally got tired of dealing with all the dependency problems with nightmares of tarballs haunting my dreams. Yeah there's Slackbuilds but I consider that cheating. So I switched over to Debian, at least for the time being. I have to admit that my skills with Linux have deteriorated over the past few years but I can still get along with it well.

One problem I have though, is that I love Adobe Premiere Elements for video editing but I can't get it working in Wine or PlayOnLinux so I dual-boot with Windows.

(On a side note back around 2010 after about a dozen attempts, I finally achieved the extraordinary accomplishment of installing Gentoo on my computer. OK, I can say I did it, then I reinstalled Slackware.)

Below are some pics

7 yr old Asus Netbook with Debian installed.  Slow on the internet but good for kicking back and writing documents.

Got this as a gift way back when.  What the hell was he thinking.   I could of downloaded it for free!  Loved it anyway

Memories.  Old books.

My current rig.  AMD  FX 6350 Six Core 3.9 Ghz with 32 MB RAM and 8GB MSI video card.  Homemade plexiglas window with fans I installed.  I used a dremel for the cutting.
