The final two episodes of season 5 finally form up to answer some questions that have been floating around since nearly the beginning. Episode 5 is mostly this seasons goofy comedy episode with some degree of a serious side. It opens up with Pidge and Matt's father Sam saying his good byes while stating his plans to warn the Galaxy Garrison so they can bolster Earths defenses. Shortly after we jump back to Keith's storyline with the Daggars.
A new mission to stop a renegade Galra from getting their hands on a mega weapon! Keith has to meet up with the contact that infiltrated the enemy. Her name is Krolia and though we never seen her before she does look familiar... Mean while the Voltron force gets to take a tour of Lotor's Galra HQ.
Pidge, Lance, and Hunk get assigned a personal assistant when they get a clever idea! Elsewhere two warring Galra factions seek the earlier weapon to gain their advantage. Back to Pidge, Hunk, and Lance get finished reprogramming their assistant droid to the sound of a 56k modem starting up. The droid is now programmed to have fun! Soon after the new fun robot and the force have to make a quick getaway with a very nostalgic sounding escape!
Keith plans his infiltration but his craft gets damaged in the process. Luckily he crash lands near his objective. Upon entering the base he soon spots Krolia. Allura and Lotor spend time in Haggar's lab and the fun robot crew continues it's hijinks. Krolia fills Keith in about the weapon but the base they are in gets attacked before it's fully explained.
Allura and Lotor make an exepected discovery, a star map to a previously thought mythological location. Team double K gets captured on the Galran base and Krolia says something surprising to Keith. Then Krolia brokers a deal with the enemy to obtain the weapon in exchange for their escape. The ultimate party bot gets launched into space in a hilarious send off set to "Amazing Grace"; words can't do it justice! God speed party bot... God speed!
Krolia gives up the information and after it's confirmed they launch to escape but the enemy has other plans and try to shoot them down anyway. They get away and the enemy gets their prize. Unfortunately for them they didn't know what the weapon actually was and it cost them dearly. Then the cliffhanger happens...
This episode of Voltron had three storylines and all of them provided quite well. Keiths story just took a great leap forward with a potential reveal of his family history which has been a long standing part of this series. Allura and Lotor seem to be doing quite well with their new found alliance and we had a lot of fun with the party bot. Overall this episode delivers a strong 8/10!
