Minding Mondays: I am International

I am Catalan and European, World! I am Spanish too—says my passport—, but I can't agree with the violations of free-speech and other human rights perpetrated by the current Spanish government...

I am a human person living on the Earth in a town called Lübeck in North Germany since one year and a half ago. My parents, travel agents, have visited places all around the globe since they were 14 and my home has always been filled with little bits of every culture since I was born. I was educated in a French school in Catalunya and spent some summers in France as a very young teenager. I lived in Ireland for about a year when I was twenty. I studied translation and interpretation at a university in Barcelona. I lived, studied and worked in that beautiful Catalan city for almost 10 years. I traveled to Italy every month for about 3 years during my middle twenties. I visited many times Hungary to see one of my dearests friends, before my thirties. I spend my summer holidays in the States since 2011. And I might move to another country in about two years with my beloved family.

I've also visited Egypt, South Korea, England, Finland, Denmark, Bali, Romania, Québec and I might forget some other place. My closest friends come from Poland, Transilvania, Romania, Syria, Iraq, Colombia, Morocco, Italy, Palestine, Peru, Venezuela, Mexico, Chile, Argentina, Kurdistan, Afghanistan, Iran, Kosovo, Turkey, France, Ireland, South Korea, Austria, South Africa, Philippines, Japan, China, Slovakia, Belgium, Tahiti, The Netherlands, Russia, and of course, Germany, the United States, Spain, and Catalunya, where I also have family. And I am sorry because I might be forgetting some other nationality… They all have a special place in my Heart.

I actually feel International. I love visiting and living in different countries, learning new languages and meeting people from all over the World. That has been one of my true passions since I was very little. I am International and I love it.

I grew up believing in the European values of Democracy and the Universal Human Rights, but national systems—and people who believe the World beyond their borders is what you see on the news—are blocking those values with their fearful reactions and biased decisions...

I feel there should be more—not only, of course—International people taking care of the World because we are more aware of the big picture taking into account the several realities that coexist in every small picture. There should be a place for us too, at least in the International decisions. But the truth is that it is not easy for International people to take part in politics due to obsolete rules and systems. No wonder the International decisions are so inadequate and very far from human needs.

Our International mindsets tend to be more flexible, creative and open-minded and those are the qualities that the old national structures lack and, in my opinion, the skills that should be included and developed in our societies in order to move forward in our Collective Evolution.

Thank you so much all for being here and reading this post with me. I wish you all a marvelous week. Human Wisdom to all!
