Oh dear... And the bad puns never stop!
This morning I was very happy to get the first part of my 2018 plant orders.
Back in early Feb I ordered some summer bedding and a few other plants.
This morning I received a package and when I opened it...
4 x bare root Canna lillies.
Canna Louis Cottin
Canna Lucifer
Canna Perkeo
Canna Delibab
In the pack was also 6 x Phlox Paniculata
All seem to be in good condition, no bad smells and soft, sticky bits that I found.
Because I hope to be putting them out into the ground, these will be left in my outhouse for now. It's far too early to plant them out here yet. The ground (hidden under the snow at the moment) is still frozen. When we get to the end of March I hope to plant them. Only one of them will be staying in a pot. Probably the Canna Louis Cottin. So that one may be able to be potted indoors and moved out later on... I'm not sure yet what I want to do.
This does, however, mean that I will have to pull them up at the end of autumn. They are a sub-tropical plant and so are not hardy to the cold UK winters. They will need to be cleaned and brought inside or they will likely die.
As to the rest of my order? That won't be here until at least the end of March/early April as it's all bedding plants.
