Artist, Actors and Models...Oh My!

After the 60th Grammy's performance recently and other recent award shows  it has come to light that these types of award shows (Grammies, Oscars, etc) no longer have a say in the public at all and if anything goes against what the public truly want to see.

The ratings on the Grammys for this year alone dropped by approximately 20% with a rating of only 5.9, an all time low. Yet remember when the 2016 Grammys were just the same with record low ratings again. The Oscars are no different, what with their spewing hardly veiled threats against Trump, the republicans and anyone who supports the work that Donald Trump has performed.

Now I get it these awards shows are about entertainment and they try to be entertainment but there are two problems with this...

1. The films in question are hardly entertaining because they seep with liberal talking points and comedy in them (if any) is nothing more than the husk it once was

2. The entertainers themselves hardly do the job of entertaining me at all, well maybe a small laugh but you know that pity laugh you make AT the person's expense, like when you laugh at the guy falling down the stairs (admitted it you have) and as such it is not something they should aspire to achieve.

A small side note, I know it might be petty to most people but I have to get this off my chest. Why are Musicians now called Artists? Last time I checked we still have artists but they paint, they draw, they design. If the reason is that music is a form of art then why don't they call Actors Artists as well, by the same logic as Drama was a performing art.

Anyway sorry about that, moving on. From start to finish these shows (from the moment they are nominated through the voting and up to  the shows themselves the system is closed. Everything is closed off from what I can see (correct me if I am wrong) the public get no say in the results, no special cross section of the public gets a say just some specialists or experts and as such doesn't reflect the views of the people who would enjoy them most, the public. Then again in comparison there are very few songs anymore that should be considered music, just the same repeated lyrics by an autotune bloated model.

What's worse is the hypocrisy. Now I'll get to the Oscars in a moment but look at the singers (I can't call them Artists) how many screech about women and women's rights about standing up for the Me Too movement and YET when you listen to the lyrics they sew it says things far worse than what Trump has said yet nothing in backlash, no celebrity calling them out while they are on stage to call them a misogynist, no protest from members of the crowd or people who disrupt men's issue commentators like Milo or Ben Shapiro, so where were they? Ohh wait was it the high security that prevented such people to storm the event? Well then let's go to where most of those types go to talk about them, not a peep.

Now the Oscars are their own brand of bile, you know that type that burns the back of your throat when you get angry or upset? I mean come on they do this MeToo movement awakening (after all it started in 2006 but only gained traction in 2017 thanks to celebrities who hijacked the movement) but only AFTER years of jokes about the nature of Harvey Weinstein and I dare any female who claims to have been abused by Weinstein then why didn't you raise this back in 2006 when the MeToo movement started? Hell why didn't you raise it when it happened? So it becomes clear that these celebrities are career minded opportunist and yet they have the raw balls to bash Trump and his policies day in and day out, thrice that at these award shows.

Now complaining is pointless without a solution and here is what I propose.

1: For the next few years all awards shows should be avoided by the public meaning their views reach the worst they can be thereby forcing producers to rethink their tactics

2: Protest at the award shows, not announced not pre-warned (so they can't cancel or move venue)and certainly not willing to be civil nor cooperative. These celebrities are in their bubbles, so lets burst those bubbles

3: (Least likely to do anything) We all write to these producers, inundate them with letters of compliant so that they are harassed by our words.

Well that's my two cent for this issue, better blow the dust of the classics and revisit the best music and films ever made.

Enjoy
