Smiling in the face of a tilting universe

These days, it seems the world has gone insane.  I read of the State of California wanting to pass laws to put service/waiterstaff in jail for offering their customers plastic drinking straws.  I read of illegal immigrants in the streets threatening Americans because their "rights" and demands are not being met.  I read of the highest levels of government attempting an open coup d'etat and it seems to be going unchecked.  I watch everyday people being beaten and tasered just for "looking suspicious".  I realize that we live in a full on police state.  At any moment, for any reason, as an American citizen, we can be stopped, detained, and even beaten and murdered, without recourse, by our public servants.  How did we come to this point?

I remember being angry over how apathetic people seemed toward this slippery slope we've bellywhopped down -- back in the 1990s.  People were more concerned about "keeping up with the Jones" rather than keeping an eye on what their legislators were covertly doing.  They didn't seem to want to know.  And, if you brought it up, you were accused of being a "nutty conspiracy monger" or told to put your tinfoil hat away.  Yet-- here we are.  The "conspiracies" are true -- and in our faces.  The people who are actively perpetrating them are out -- loud and proud -- and in all of our collective faces.

So, how do we remain centered in an aggressive and unstable environment, that has the potential to turn deadly at the drop of a dime, for any of us --just get pulled over and look or move the wrong way, and you have a chance of becoming a statistic, no matter what color you are -- how do we navigate this?  Carefully.

Personally, and call me crazy, but I'm of the opinion that if our out-of-control criminal government -- meaning, the Deep State Globalist regime that's trying to overthrow our government -- is not dealt with in the harshest way possible, than we need to abolish ALL laws, and open the prisons.  We either have equal laws for all people -- from top Public Servants down to the little guy on the corner -- or we have no laws at all.  We can't have it both ways.

But, I digress.  I think that if we are to carry on productively, we have to love and savor our lives, all moments of it, and be thankful for the gifts we still have.  Outside my faith, and of family and friends, I find love and happiness in the natural world -- art, beauty, travel -- and this carries me through the ugliness of the maelstrom around us.  I think it turbulent times, cultivating a sense of peace is necessary.  To be content in all situations, as the Apostle Paul advises.  It's the only thing that will keep us sane and healthy as the world continues to swirl in it's insane orbit.
