Foreskin Forsaken

So, a little TMI warning... okay consider that the warning.

Like many (if not most) males in the United States, I was circumcised as an infant, and no, it was not for a religious or medical reason despite the "cleanliness" argument often pitched. Most people would see this as just how things are, but if you know me by now, you know that I can't be satisfied with a "just because" reason.

In the past, most men were never circumcised, and it was perfectly normal. Circumcision wasn't even popular in the US until the 1890's, and it was implemented for no other reason than to prevent boys from masturbating (spoiler alert, circumcision didn't stop that). It was even common for a period in the 1890's for women's clitorises to be chemically removed with carbolic acid. This trend thankfully never caught on, but men weren't saved from the circumcision circuit.

Even today, upwards of 80% of American boys are circumcised. The reason given now though is a bit different. Parents are told that circumcision prevents the spread of STD's and that it helps keep the penis clean. This is entirely untrue though, as to clean under the foreskin, all you need to do is pull it back and clean with soap (just like you clean any other part of your body), and to prevent STD's, prevention as treatment AKA condoms, tend to work just fine.

So what do you do if you've been circumcised, but are either upset, culturally evolved, or just find that you aren't really getting much sexual pleasure? Thankfully, there are methods to regrow a layer of skin over your penis. Make no mistake, the nerve endings from your foreskin are GONE, but you can get back a great deal of sensation and even re-soften your penis head. The head of the penis is not made of skin like the rest of your extremities, it is actually a nerve bundle. As such, constant exposure to air and dry cloth cause it to toughen and lose sensitivity. By re-establishing a hood over the head, you allow the head to soften again, and regain sensation.

The method I use is actually pretty simple, and an instructional graphic is shown below.
