UK rejects Ecuador request for diplomatic status for Assange, demands he ‘face justice’

This situation is beyond tolerable, Assange has been stuck in the Ecuadorian embassy for over five years now. The sexual assault charges have been dropped. The only thing keeping him there is the British Government who says he must leave the embassy and face charges regarding him jumping bail. It is believed that the Ecuadorian embassy would grant him diplomatic immunity if the UK Government would cooperate but he now holds an Ecuadorian ID which only citizens of Ecuador are allowed to hold.
