Gender Based Violence is also known as the violence against women which means the violent acts committed against women. It is a great and major problem of our society which minimizes the right of living for women. Some of the major issues are honor killing, forced marriage, women trafficking and harassment. According to demographic calculations, more than 90 million women are "missing" worldwide. Forced abortion is also common in the world as many people want a baby boy instead of a girl.

Gender based violence was increased when Roman law gave men the right to chastise their wives, even to the point of death, and another cause was a Hindu practice called Sati which means a widow must have to die if her husband dies. According to official estimates, there were 1,349 honor killings in Pakistan in 2004 alone which shows that most of the people in the world are pitiless.
