Minds belong OPEN -- don't listen to the corporate government and its corporate media outlets about what you "ought" to hear. We're back in the McCarthy era and if we're being told that something is "commie propaganda" there's a high probability that it's a reasoned analysis that was hitting too many Obama administration and is now hitting too many Trump administration nerves. RT -- Russia Today -- is owned by the Russian government. It functions for us as the Voice of America once functioned for Russia, a national propaganda outlet yes, but letting dissident voices speak. So the question is not whether you agree with Russia. The question is, do those dissident U.S. voices have a right and so they deserve platforms to speak?.
Just as Russia is keeping Edward Snowden literally alive, RT is keeping Pulitzer-prizewinning former NYT journalist Chris Hedges -- a scathingly intelligent and knowledgeable man -- journalistically alive. I cannot recommend Hedge's show too highly. RT also hosts political satirist Lee Camp, this generation's George Carlin. Think of RT as Mental Floss and fight the government's attempts to seal us off from it. The latest gambit is a proposal to force anyone with an unedited live show going out over RT to register as a foreign agent. Get real. Fight the censorship. Tune in occasionally. Yell at the screen, write nasty letters if it helps you cope, but don't let McCarthyism descend on us again. Thank you for reading this -- even if you disagree.
