SNES Classic: What I would have done differently

Now that all the reviews are done there is something else that came to mind. As awesome as the SNES Classic really is there are a few things I'd like to have seen instead of what we got. The SNES Classic is currently available though it may be scarce. Nintendo has promised additional units as well as more Mini-NES units; as awesome as this device is DO NOT PAY MORE than retail for it. With that said let us begin!

EMULATION: The emulation of the SNES classic is very good but they don't give you a lot of options to play with. PC emu's offer more robust settings and full screen support. The SC however keeps the game play inside a small box with a border around it. The SC gives little choice as how to address this as it mainly offers filters (3) and several border designs. I can fix this issue using my TV's format button but that causes issues with the scrolling.

What I would of done is taken a look at the best emulators on the market and found the best options available and brought them over. Many emu's have various resolutions modes, many additional filters and even the capability to clean up flicker and slowdown. The SC has none of these things. While it does emulate the games as they were it does little else.

GAMES: While the list of games in this system is mostly an all-star who's who there were better options than some of what we got. I would of removed both Kirby games as neither really brings anything to the table.  I would make Star Fox 2 playable from the start and then I would bring the game total to 25. I would then add these 7 games in no particular order. Actraiser, Final Fantasy 4, Chrono Trigger, Super Mario All-Stars, UN Squadron, Mortal Kombat 2 and, Illusion of Gaia. If I couldn't get one or more of those titles I'd throw Kirby fans a bone with Kirby's dreamland 3, Super Turrican 2 and/or, Breath of Fire.

CONTROLLERS: While the controllers are pretty spot on I would of made the wires a little longer perhaps another 3 feet. The SC has a feature that allows for mid game saves or a save state. The down side to this is that in order to use it you have to hit the reset button on the console; meaning that you have to have it near you at all times to conveniently use that feature. I would add a home button to the controller that would allow easy access to this feature and the few other bells and whistles.

NINTENDO STORE: The SC is far more powerful of a unit than the original. I'm not sure how much more but it is using updated hardware. Since you can "hack" the unit and add every SNES game ever made to it (more or less) it isn't even at capacity. What I would do is either put an Ethernet port in back with access to Nintendo's current shop or if not possible allow some form of USB connection to add additional games to the unit. For SC customers I'd even offer a discount promotion on your first download, maybe a free title or a percentage off all games deal to get people into the shop.

Now that I've said what I would do differently do you agree? Dissagree? What would you do? What would you suggest Nintendo do for the rumored Gameboy Classic and N64 Classic systems? Please rate and comment below!
