Minds.com is an open source platform.  What this means is that thousands of people including the end user perform bug reports, suggestions and even look in to fixing some of the programming issues.  Most open source software is not for profit.  This is not like DOS 6.0, or Windows 3.0 where you had to pay an additional $10 to upgrade to DOS 6.22  or pay another license fee to upgrade to Windows 3.11 in order to fix the bugs released in DOS 6.0/Windows 3.0 .  These are just a couple examples of privatized, for profit software that most people use.  Surprisingly, much of the internet is run on open source software - GNU/Linux - estimated at 60-70% of servers in the world.  The voting systems in the United States are for profit, proprietary software that can't be evaluated for errors, bugs, manipulations etc. We just have to accept a company's word that this is happening and like many, I find this contradictory to a free and open society.  Lie detector software, DNA software,  finger print software and the list goes on.  When someone questions the accuracy or integrity of a privately controlled proprietary software package and asks to see the code, the answer is usually: 'NO IT'S A SECRET'.   With open source you may find it a little frustrating to get things figured out, or seemingly not have issues addressed.  Rome wasn't built in a day and when you have the potential of hundreds of thousands of people working in their own way on projects that are designed to give power back to the people, and not support a handful of the excessively wealthy that stand on the shoulders of genius, claiming it to be 'their own'.

I have watched public domain and open source software for over forty years.  In my humble opinion, open source software is the root and path at the core of achieving a  free and open society.  Be kind and patient when making bug reports or upgrade suggestions, after all we are all on this open source platform together, working towards a free and open society, even if we think we do so already.
