As it is no surprise to anyone, in the aftermath of Harvey and Irma a bunch of so-called "celebrities" came out and held a telethon to gather donations for the victims of the recent hurricanes that hit the US. If this was all that happened, I would be more than fine, in fact i would endorse it. I do support anyone who helps clean up the devastated areas, where millions where without power or fresh water. But then the event turned into a giant lecture, with celebrities teaching all of us about how horrible [man-made] climate change is, why everything is the fault of Trump and that all of the "nonbelievers" should be shunned and shamed into oblivion. And in their noble (which is apparently their word for PR-stunt) effort to "save our planet", which was clearly intended to be the primary purpose of the event, they not only burnt tonnes and tonnes of CO2 flying to the telethon, but also showed the world once again what a bunch of smug hypocrites they really are.
The entire cadre of mainstream celebrities is infested with leftist ideologues. They are part of the MSM, though a different section: The news media (Times, WSJ, etc) is there to spread lies and disinformation, while celebrities are pushed in order to capture the youth and fill their heads with the "right" ideas from early on. Their job is to virtue signal all day, spread hatred for political enemies, show off their decadence to show how successful you are when you are in mainstream culture and generally take the talking point off real political issues while the rest of the MSM writes articles about how great they are for all of it.
Do not be fooled by their calls for CO2 reductions, there is exactly two types of mainstream celebrities: The ones that know it's a total fraud, and the ones that are so decadent and beyond normal human worries that they don't even see their hypocrisy or spend any time on self-reflection. I personally can barely decide who is worse, and to be honest, i do not even care which category they belong to. Their goals align all the way through, in this case it was a combination:
Spreading man-made climate change panic to further the deindustrialization of the west and working towards global carbon taxes.
Bashing Trump and other deniers, making them responsible for the hurricanes.
Showing off how great they are for virtue signaling and gathering money they could easily have donated themselves.
None of them, along with the politicians and other rich man-made climate change preachers give a red penny for earth, their donations and actions are all political agenda and PR stunts. If the planet really floods, they have property everywhere on this planet, they would just go to one of their tens of mansions that isn't flooded. They have the money to deal with the problems ahead. The ones that know man-made climate change is merely a fraud are openly buying coastline property. But all of them together live so large that their carbon footprint is a hundreds if not thousands of times that of the average person.
If they where serious about "saving the planet", they would destroy (yes, destroy, not sell. If they sold, it would just be someone else who produces the CO2) all their mansions and houses, cars, airplanes, yachts and other CO2 producing property they do not need to survive, stop flying all over the world for entertainment purposes or eating imported, exotic food, or in other words: Give up on almost all of their status symbols, media presence and luxury for the common good. These are the words that celebrities are allergic to, they avoid it like a vampire a supernova. I do not even condemn all their luxury or wealth, it is simply that they try to shame everyone who doesn't pray to our "lord and savior" Al Gore and offers up his money in the form of carbon taxes, while they themselves with their lifestyle produce so much CO2 that they should be the first to shut up and listen about this subject.
Let's take a look at some of the celebrities that exceeded at being dishonorable hypocrites and knowing it:
There are few who are so determent when it comes to man-made climate change. He spoke in front of the UN climate summit (source: here) on behalf of the presumed billions around the world that are concerned about climate change, and urged the leaders of all nations to save planet earth. And once he was done, i imagine he took his private jet. In fact, he does seem to like flights. In 2014, during the revelations of the Sony Leaks (source: here) it came out that took 6 private jet flights in just 6 weeks. Every PR stunt to advocate CO2 reduction he does produces tonnes of CO2. There are just now words i can write down without censoring, and i do not want to make that a habit.
It wasn't so much his statements but his flight record. According to the Dailymail, he flew a confirmed 136.000 miles, producing approx. 22.45 tonnes of CO2. Just for comparison: The average US citizen produces 20, the average human 4. And we are only talking about confirmed flights, no private travels, electricity, heating/cooling of property, etc. All in the light of the fact that those people do not contribute to any real purpose. They are merely entertainment, something that is on top of the list of things that we could do without if man-made climate change really where an issue.
He calls everyone who doesn't see that there is "global warming" (good job there, they changed the term years ago. Nobody denies climate change because they always leave out the "man-made" part) "blind or unintelligent". I'm sorry that I am so blind that I've looked at the data and found man-made climate change to be a fraud. I'm sorry I'm so unintelligent that I spent a 3-part series (here) on a research report that showed how they manipulated GAST (global average surface temperature). He follows up with "Lord, please save us all", and that is the one part I agree on. In all sincerity, Lord, please give these people some honesty, decency and self-reflection.
We could go on pointing our fingers at just about everyone in the telethon and find some dirty CO2 on him or her, but in all honesty, it doesn't matter. If they want luxury and got the money for it, as long as they got it legally they can do whatever they like. What grinds my gears is when they try to speak from the moral high-ground of their imagination down to us, lecturing the people about the bogeyman that is MAN MADE climate change, and how we should all join the church of "let's-pay-carbon-taxes-for-politicians-to-screw-us-over". As long as the facts and not just politicians, celebrities and the fake news media say that man-made climate change is a fraud I won't be caught dead with the lot of them.
But this is a sentiment that a lot of people share. This is why at the moment mostly the mainstream news media, but soon the entire MSM in general is failing, and soon all these hypocritical stars will have fallen. The public rejects their influence more and more, the result will be that their fame and wealth, and of cause with that their carbon footprint, will vanish. Whatever others will do, I won't shed one tear when it happens.
