WIKILEAKS: CIA can secretly load implants on Windows’s devices

WikiLeaks have today released documents from the Vault 7 cache, a group of leaked information which contains details on the CIA Angelfire spyware tool which was developed to facilitate loading and execution of implants targeting computers using Microsoft Windows operating systems.

"Today, August 31st 2017, WikiLeaks publishes documents from the Angelfire project of the CIA. Angelfire is an implant comprised of five components: Solartime, Wolfcreek, Keystone (previously MagicWand), BadMFS, and the Windows Transitory File system," the accompanying statement on Wikileaks' website said.

The CIA allegedly (it's obviously true but the agency are still denying it,) uses the tool to upload and execute malicious applications on target computers running Microsoft Windows operating systems. One of tool’s components modifies the boot sector, allowing the implants to be downloaded simultaneously with Windows’ boot time device drivers. Loaded implants never touch the file system, so it is rather difficult to track the process.

There can be no doubt Microsoft have collaborated in this program as the act of changing windows execuatables constitutes breach of copyright (and about a million other laws.) Most government sponsored surveillance software relies on 'back doors' built into operating system components.

WikiLeaks released the first batch from the Vault 7 project in March, containing a total of 8,761 documents. More recently, a tranche dedicated to a CIA project allowing for the secret collection of biometric data from US liaison services, took place on August 24. From what we have seen of the information o far, it appears Washington is on track to tun the USA into a prison state on a par with communist China under Chairman Mao or Soviet Russia under Uncle Joe Stalin.
