Every morning, we are so busy accommodating other activities in our daily life, that we let the most important thing fall low in our priorities- our health. Taking just a few minutes to have something to eat in the morning can really make a difference to your day. Since we don’t consume anything after dinner, our body is starving the next morning. When you wake up, the blood sugar your body needs to work is usually low. Breakfast helps you to replenish it. So, just a cup of coffee is not enough. Having breakfast gives you the energy you need to get things done and helps you focus at work. Breakfast also gives you a chance to get in some nutrients from healthy foods like dairy, cereals and fruits. If you don’t eat it, you aren’t likely to get all of the nutrients your body needs. Here are a few reasons you should never skip your first meal of the day:

1.       Increased energy level: When you start your day hungry, you get tired quickly. Since your blood sugar levels haven’t been restored to the normal levels, you are low on energy. Our bodies need energy to function and that energy comes from food. Breakfast gives your brain and body the energy to start functioning properly.

2.       Increased productivity: A morning meal is necessary not only for the body but also for the brain. Eating breakfast helps you feel more focused for the day no matter where you are. Eating food in the morning gives our brains the required energy to function and focus better on tasks. Many studies have shown how eating breakfast can improve memory and concentration. Because just like any other organ in the body, the brain needs energy to work as well!

3.       Nutritional benefits: Eating healthy in the morning reduce over eating later in the day. Breakfast is a great opportunity to consume nutritious foods. It can be a good source of many vitamins if you pick healthy foods, like whole grains, fruits, modern brown bread, skimmed dairy products and vegetables. And if you are a big fan of breads, you should consider switching to multigrain products.  To name a few of the multigrain bread benefits, they are rich in vitamins, minerals and healthy fibre but they are relatively low in calories and fat. Thus, helping to meet your nutritional goals.

4.       Controls your appetite: Those of you thinking that skipping out a meal will help you lose weight, but the opposite may happen instead. Having breakfast helps you feel fuller and reduces your cravings for calories. If you don’t eat breakfast, you’re much more likely to end up snacking throughout the morning.
