I have a confession to make. And a lot of you might think less of me for it, but here goes.
I'm a member of tvtropes.
For those not in the know, tvtropes is a website dedicated to categorizing storytelling tools found in all works of fiction, along with providing examples of such uses. However, due to the nature of its userbase, the site has grown to include all manner of trivia and tangential stuff, and (heaven forbid!) even has its own forum.
Now most fora have VERY heavy restrictions against policital and religious topics, and tvtropes in no exception. However, in one of the subfora there is a section called "Oh-Topic" which allows threads dedicated to political ongoings. Among these (so-called) debates are threads related to U.S. and Canadian politics.
Normally I have no arguments with the tvtropes userbase; after all, free speech is free speech and liberals have as much right to their views and conservatives. However, the political threads are, as far as I'm concerned, policed by antifa. Have a taste: (WARNING -- you WILL need an antidote after reading):

Just today I posted an article I found on msn on the Canadian politics thread. Here is the page I posted it on (scroll down to comment 3532):

Now keep scrolling through the comments...you'll get to it pretty quickly.
There you have it. The snowflakes called Jordan Peterson transphobic. A phobia is an irrational fear of something (example: I have arachnophobia. I'm afraid of spiders, despite most of them being a nuisance at worst). Yet Peterson is labelled transphobic because he refuses to use certain pronouns.
Let me make something crystal-clear: Peterson is not transphobic. He has never, to my knowledge, refused to speak with transgender people, put them down with insults, or called for violence against them. Show me an example of Peterson doing one of the above, and I will take back everything I say in this article.
The English language doesn't need to be completely rewritten because a few people unsure of their own gender don't want to be called "Sir" or "Ma'am." Peterson is completely correct when he stands up for the right of people to call others a certain pronoun. He is not insulting anyone; he is using English the way it was intended. Yet he gets labelled a word that literally means "afraid of people who've changed." Perhaps his detractors might remove the log in their eye before cleaning the speck (which, in this case, isn't there to being with) from Peterson's?
And perhaps I should consider quitting tvtropes. Minds.com is better.
