On top of a mountain, Power and Force take Prometheus for be chained by Hephaestus as punishment inflicted by Zeus for having given to humanity a spark of the divine fire, making the human a rational being, opening to them the arts, sciences, and, consequently, the evolution. Prometeus also planted in them blind hopes for no more feel fear of death. These gifts countered the Zeus plans to exterminate humanity.
Ocean comes flying over a Griffin and tries in vain to dissuade Prometheus of his feud and tell the secret to avoid the defeat of Zeus by his own son, just as Zeus had done with his father, Cronus.
The Oceanides compare the punishment of Prometheus to that of Atlas, who keeps the spine that connects earth to sky. Prometheus argues that knows the fate of Zeus, but secretive in order to use the information to get rid of punishment.
Io asks Prometheus to reveal her fate. He says that through the will of Hera Io will wander into Asia, giving name to the strait that connects Europe, the Bosphorus, and continue wandering to Africa, where will found a colony.
