The company GeoOrbital recently ran a successful Kickstarter for their ingenious wheel that can convert virtually any bicycle into electric.

Using a battery powered brushless motor, you will be able to travel up to 50 miles on one charge.

GeoOrbital claims, "The GeoOrbital wheel is by far the easiest way to add electric power to your bike. The only part that isn’t in the wheel itself is a simple thumb activated throttle, which is easily clipped onto your handlebar."

Once you're hooked up, the wheel can have you cruising around at speeds up to 20mph using just your thumb!

The wheel is powered by a Panasonic 36V removable Lithium-Ion battery with a pedal assisted range of up to 50 miles per battery. With little to no pedaling, you will go about 20 miles on a single battery. The more you choose to pedal the more range you can expect, and you can always take a spare battery with you for longer rides.

So the more you pedal the further you can go.  If you're planning a long-distance trip, you can always take a spare battery to double your range.

If you want to get in on this on the ground level, head over to their Kickstarter page and donate.  At the moment, if you contribute $649 or more, you'll get your very own wheel.
