A fully green revolution of energy consumption has driven inventors to create a system that allows you to gather electricity from plant soil.

Called Bioo Lite, the design entails a pot that contains electrolytic microorganisms, activated by pouring water in.  Once activated, the plant is potted, dirt is filled in and photosynthesis begins.  The energy from the sun is captured by the biomass and transmitted, via a collector in the center of the pot, up a USB wire and to your phone (or anything else that can charge with USB).

Renewable, consistent power is a must.  Whether it's solar panels or photosynthesis, getting power from the sun is one of the most reliable forms of electricity.  Coupling that with advanced energy storage, light gathered during the day can be stored as energy and used at night.

The Bioo Lite is in the midst of an Indiegogo campaign where it has gathered over 400% of its goal.  If you want to get one, you can pre-order it by donating to the campaign.
