Don't give oxygen to the thought. The thought is there to amaze and delight, but if you get attached to it, it pokes you. If you give the thought oxygen a fire will burn. More oxygen and the fire will rage. Don't be attached to non attachment - it's a trick of the mind - the oxygen still builds, just the fire will not be set for a while.
When the fire rages, let it burn out on it's own. Don't stifle the fire, When the fire burns out, that which remains is you. A raging fire can burn off the sludge, but the fire cannot touch you. The fire could not have even started without your oxygen and spark of a thought would not have stirred if not for the sludge that you attached to.
