In what may be a developing trend, 25 year old Shahkeil Akbar purchased a pair of socks from British clothing company, Primark, and received a message in Chinese.  Though he couldn't read it, he had it translated and found that it "looked to be an SOS," and that the 39 year old sock maker was being forced to make the clothing.

It's the second time in two weeks that a letter has been found accompanying Primark clothing that outlines both physically and mentally abusive environments where workers are forced to make clothing.

"He said he had endured physical and psychological abuse and that he was forced to make these socks. It felt like a real burden to me," said Akbar.

Primark has responded by claiming it is a hoax.

According to a spokesman, the company believes that“the Primark name is being used to gain publicity for the plight of this individual."  He went on to say "we have found no link at all between this individual and any of our suppliers’ factories in China.

"We think it is likely that the note was added after production and it is feasible it was added in transit or at a port.”
