Past few weeks I've been talking with my friend about crypto, and we've decided to buy / trade some. He also told me about a program he uses to mine Ethereum on his personal desktop computer.
I would say, I am pretty new into mining here, but perhaps someone is going to find this blog useful. If you have any suggestions for me / improvements, I would like to learn so let me know please!
I personally am using Exodus for crypto wallet and coinbase for trading.
I think Exodus with its clean interface and simplicity is pretty good choice. You can download it here. It is mainly on desktop, but it offers a possibility to sync to phone or hardware wallet (I haven't tried either of options.
For coinbase, I learned about it because I tried to play one of those "earn bitcoin" kind of games. They sent me 1c in bitcoin, and I got additional 10$ for joining afterwards. It's been pretty useful for me for exchange, but you have a wallet there as well of course. You can get your account here.
You can download nanominer from GitHub. I unzipped my version, filled out the configuration and started it up.
My config.ini looks like following:
; To mine Ethereum you must replace the address below with your wallet here.
; For other usecases please see full documentation and examples in README document.
wallet=0xMYADDRESS
[email protected]
rigName = MyRigName
Just to be sure, I put the wallet, mail and rig name in the config_eth.ini, but it shouldn't be needed.
To check your funds, you can go to link "https://eth.nanopool.org/account/YourAddress" It might take a short while to get the first shares in.
Additionally, you can join their Discord.
I am running this on my personal computer, which has GTX1070 and in 24 hours of running, (hashrate above 20 Mh/s) I got around 0.00125ETH.
My friend is running it on RTX3060 and he has got 0.015ETH after around week of mining around 8 hours a day with hashrate above 50Mh/s.
I think it's interesting to have a miner running while I work. We have tested it with the friend, and we are not restricted by the miner when playing games, it takes only as much as it needs.
I would recommend having as new GPU as possible, for better results.
I am personally quite new to crypto, but it surely has a big potential, I believe that. To wrap up, here are the links:
Hope this was helpful to someone, and to people who are experienced in this, hope you didn't facepalm too much. Feedback would be appreciated! <3
