Let me speak frankly and with openness that I might not be misunderstood.
There is more to life than this digital landscape that we all seem to find ourselves drawn to. I often lament my moth like draw to the screen of my phone. I am nearly 40 years old and have been some of the first pioneers in this space. I watched the internet offer up a potion that promised entertainment, connection, friendship, free speech, creativity, and so much more. Then I watched as everything fun and interesting was sterilized and forced to hide in the grout of the new shiny and tiled landscapes of social media.
Gone are the days of the small blog. I miss them. Every now and then I find a dead blog and I read a lot of it and remember the days when that is what we did. We journaled our interests and traffic, likes, and fame be dammed. I mean come on there is more than one "Price is Right" blog. https://stoseontpir.blogspot.com/
I get an inkling. A light breaking through the clouds or a fire in the distance. A nostalgia for a time when the internet seemed to be giving way to new modes of creativity and innovation. It seemed so much easier to find those creative and strange grottos. Nowadays you end up needing to follow someone who aggregates these things basically smuggling them through the algorithms.
I feel like Minds has some of this and I hope it continues to grow. The meme smiths are here doing their important work but I am going to do something different which is why you should follow me.
I am looking to do larger art projects that harken back to a time when the internet provided mystery and mystique. I am not the first person to do such a thing but if you want to see the progress and the finished product then subscribe away!
