Welcome to the next chapter in The Eternal Optimist. If this is your first time here welcome, please hit that subscribe button and I will update when I can. The reason for not being able to update frequently is that I want to be able to give my all with the content I create for anyone willing to read this. That being said, let's continue on our journey of happiness.

This time around the discussion of point is appreciating yourself. As always this advise is meant to be a guide and may not apply to all individuals. As such I welcome you to read further and continue on this journey of healing, self discovery and happiness. If even one person benefits from this than it's more than worth it.

Self appreciation is one of the main steps to accepting who you are as an individual. Asking yourself why should I appreciate who I am as a person and learning to grow with that in mind is a very powerful tool you can use moving forward in life. With my personal experience it took me quite some time to learn to appreciate myself but when this came to me a wellspring of happiness came from within. Accepting who you are as an individual is a large part of appreciation of who you are as a whole. Understanding the line between vanity and appreciating yourself is important to keep this newfound appreciation from becoming toxic. Loving yourself and appreciating yourself come hand in hand but are not essentially the same thing. Learning to appreciate who you are as a person, a being of light and someone that is deserving of love is an important part of self care and growth as a human being.

Self appreciation is one of the main steps to accepting who you are as an individual. If you can appreciate who you are than you become equipped with a sense of understanding of where you come from and in turn where you are going. This is important in your path to happiness because if you do not know yourself there is a very low chance that you can accept or appreciate others around you.

Asking yourself why should I appreciate who I am as a person and learning to grow with that in mindset is a very powerful tool you can use moving forward in life. The why should be as important as the how in this matter. The driving force behind anyone's acceptance comes not from how but why. If you can figure out the why in self appreciation is half the battle, I say this because if you know why you appreciate yourself the rest almost comes naturally. As with all things please give yourself time to readjust to this new way of thinking, the positive mindset is not built on the outside and it can take some time to be able to change negative ways of thinking about yourself. Please do not be discouraged though, something as simple as looking in a mirror and telling that person you see that you are a good person and that you appreciate who  you are is a huge step in starting along that path. Remember that one good thought goes a long way, it will not erase all the negative emotion or thoughts but every step in a positive direction moves you further from negativity and closer to accepting yourself.

With my personal experience it took me quite some time to learn to appreciate myself but when this came to me a wellspring of happiness came from within. This was especially true of my younger years. Learning to appreciate who I am gave me an understanding of where I was in life, where I could go from there and what I could learn as tools that I could use to help myself in the future. Bringing those tools with me helped foster new levels of happiness regardless of how others felt or thought about me as a person, that's not to say that I do not care what people think of me but more along the lines of what they think no longer affected my personal happiness. After all only you are in control of how you think, act and feel.

Accepting who you are as an individual is a large part of appreciation of who you are as a whole. This is important to note because self acceptance and appreciation go hand in hand. Self acceptance is not easy for some and may require some work. And that is okay because we are all on a journey and all of our journeys are connected, we may be on a different path in our journey but the important thing is that we move forward. This is huge in understanding who you are and accepting yourself and others.  If you can accept who you are you are better equipped to appreciate who that person is and who you are becoming as an individual.

Understanding the line between vanity and appreciating yourself is important to keep this newfound appreciation from becoming toxic. This is very important to note because I have come across many people that did not know the line existed and would fight tooth and nail to prove otherwise. Being able to keep separate these two things is a great way to maintain balance with your newfound sense of self. Please know to appreciate who you are as a person does not come with a sense of knowledge based on physical appearance but still can affect ones self worth. This is good to understand to avoid becoming toxic as toxic vanity can be easily avoided keeping these things in mind. As with all things knowledge is always an ally.

Loving yourself and appreciating yourself come hand in hand but are not essentially the same thing. If you look at a painting you can love it, but not until you know how it's done or the feelings it conveys can you truly appreciate it. This is part of what I am saying here, you can love yourself but until you come to understand who you are as an individual can you truly appreciate who you are and who you are becoming. Loving yourself also opens doors to be able to love others and the same is true for appreciation. If you can appreciate who you are as a person then appreciating who other people are is much easier.

Learning to appreciate who you are as a person, a being of light and someone that is deserving of love is an important part of self care and growth as a human being. When you truly appreciate and love yourself they become tools of empathy, trust and acceptance. The lack of this is shown by selfish behavior and can easily be corrected providing that person wants. This happens to be very close to my heart because I believe that everyone is worthy of love, it just needs to be said because not everyone sees themselves as such.

In closing I hope I could shed some light on the subject from my point of view. If you have any questions, criticisms or comments please feel free to drop them below in the comments box down there below. And as always keep moving forward, it's alright to look backwards to see how far you have grown and have a great journey.
