THE SIMPLE THINGS IN LIFE

Take a walk with a friend or take a walk alone just to be with yourself and take in the beauty all around you. Take some beauty home with you. In your memories and in this case, in a plastic bag.

I gathered these with my wonderful son and since it was very simple to do and I like crafting things, I cleaned them off with a dry paint brush and sprayed them with a weak vinegar and water solution to kill any bacteria and let them dry on a piece of parchment paper. (NOTE: if you soak them the pinecones will close)

Since I love snow, after drying I  just held the pinecones from the top and ran a paintbrush dipped in a light coat of white paint, down the outside and placed them on the parchment paper.  Once  they dried I piled them in baskets, added a bow and gave them to my son for Christmas decorations. I also made some for myself.

Other things I have done with them is once dry, pile them into a small wire basket with Christmas lights entwined. VOILA, a pretty pinecone lighted basket. I gave those to many friends. They all use them and loved them.

Not only do they make beautiful displays at Christmas but they will always be a momento of time we spent together enjoying the simple things in life. If you take a good look around, opening your eyes, mind and heart, you will see that God has given us many beautiful things. Free of charge to enjoy. Hope you try this.
