Free Speech

When we hear that we have free speech, everyone loves that. Who wouldn't? However, free speech does have consequences. I have found on this free speech site, there are many who think this means they do not have to be kind, can insult any person for any reason and think this is ok. It's your right to be nasty if you so choose however, what is the point of being nasty?

This is a platform where we can exchange ideas and express ourselves without fear of being shadowbanned or have our accounts deleted because we have a conservative viewpoint or any viewpoint for that matter, and that is wonderful. I am amazed though, how many people think this means that insulting others  using the foulest language, fueling hatred, division, racism  and despair is ok. Well, while it may be free speech, these behaviors are not free of consequences.

We, as participants of this platform are still able to choose to associate with or respond to anyone we choose. As in everyday life, that is our choice and a freedom that is given to us by our God. Our words though, do have real life consequences. Not all those consequences are good. What we sow, we do in fact reap. Kindness is a choice.

I saw someone here today  (as well as another user in the past), a person I consider to be a very nice person, be attacked verbally in a comment . While this was a free speech right for the person who wrote the comment, I feel it was a very poor choice of words for the person writing the comments. It was MY freedom of choice to block that person.

Minds does not censor your speech however, what it does give users is the ability to select what we want in our interactions with other users. And being blocked is one of the consequences NOT OF FREE SPEECH but of being UNKIND. I choose not to fill my life with people who are negative and abusive to others. These people had the free speech to say whatever words they wanted however, those words are not without consequences.

People should remember that all things verbal and written are being monitored and recorded by the NSA and others who build profiles on what type of person we are based on our choice of words. One day that person may have the opportunity to obtain the job of their dreams and be denied that job based on their verbal interactions with others. Free speech is a wonderful thing. Use it wisely is all I am saying.
